It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Janet Anita (Hooper) Whittaker which occurred unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, June 26th, 2018. Born 1947, in Missine, PQ, she was the daughter of the late William and Bertha (Gautreau) Hooper. Janet worked as a waitress at the Mediterranean Restaurant and she also worked at City Laundry for many years. She enjoyed listening to music and gardening. She had a great love for animals, especially her cats Pokey and Penny and her dog Nikki.
Janet is survived by her son Gary (Lori) of Norton; daughters Debbie Magee (Dwayne) and Annette Grant (Malcolm) of Saint John; siblings Theresa Hooper of Norton, Melvina McKenzie (Gordon) of Rothesay, William Hooper (Sandra) of Rothesay, Melvin Hooper of Hamilton, ON.; grandchildren Danny, Adam, Michael, Jimmy, Brian, Bradley, Arron, Amanda, Doug, John, Chris, Curtis, Nathan, Ashley, Jocelyn; many great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents, Janet was predeceased by her husband George, son Robert and brothers Edward, Ronald, Leroy, and Armond.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Friday, June 29th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Saturday, June 30th at 10 a.m. followed by an interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Donations in memory of Janet may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
