Life Story for
James Wiseman Ratcliffe
RATCLIFFE, JAMES WISEMAN – It is with sadness that his family announces the peaceful passing of Jim on Friday, December 28, 2018, in his 101st year, at Millennium Trail Manor in Niagara Falls, ON. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 58 years Jane (Townend – 2002).
Jim was born at Anderson, ON, on August 15, 1918. Survived by his children, William (Linda) Ratcliffe, Janet Holdenand, Ann (Dennis) Milani, his grandchildren Laura (Ken) Scott, Amy (Paul) Ratcliffe Riley, Matt Holden, Nathan and Mark (Kristina) Milani, great-grandchildren Kyan and Aiden Scott, Delaney Holden and Emmett Riley, sister-in-law Dorothy Ratcliffe (Johns), and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, William Lorne and Laura Ethyl Ratcliffe (Wiseman), his brothers William Burns Ratcliffe and Arthur Grant Ratcliffe,
his sisters-in-law Kathleen (Kay) Macdonald (Townend) and Anna Ratcliffe (Needham), brother-in-law Max Macdonald, son-in-law Joseph Holden, grandson Robert Holden. Jim retired
from Cyanamid (Welland Plant) after 42 years of service as a supervisor in the Ammonia Plant and a night superintendent.
His keen interest in life shone through his many interests. He was an avid sports fan often following multiple games at once. Jim’s main focus was his family. Playing many types of games was a passion of his. He was a long time supporter of Stamford United Church, now Stamford Lane United Church.
Visitation will be held at Morse & Son Funeral Home, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls, on Friday, January 4, 2019, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00 am with a Celebration of Life at 12:00 pm, followed by a reception at Morse & Son Event Centre.
