It is with great sadness that we announce that James William Steinberg (“Steiny”) passed away peacefully after struggling with illness, on August 2nd, 2018 at Spring Valley Care Home, Kelowna BC. He was predeceased by his father Melvin Gilbert, mother Lauretta Steinberg and his wife Lois Steinberg, (sister) Arlene, (brother) Terry and (step daughter) Darlene. He is survived and lovingly remembered by (brother) Joe and (sister in-law Vi) and (brother) Walter, his (sister) Barbara and (brother… Read More » in-law Gibby), his children (daughter) Louise and (son in-law) Chris Abbott, (son) Thomas and (daughter in-law) Michelle Steinberg, (daughter) Janice and (son in-law) Peter Schlief, (daughter) Brenda and (son in-law) Ron Jorde, (step sons) Raymond and Harold. His Grandchildren Max, Shayne, Jim, Daniel, Josh, David, Brandon, Zoey, Grayson and his Great Grandchildren Terran, Joshua Jr, Dawson, Alexandra, Aurelia and Sterling. As well as many extended family members and long-time cherished friends.
James was born in Vanderhoof, BC, June 4th, 1938. He spent his childhood and married in Osoyoos, BC (Elaine Petrin, mother of children) and settled in Kelowna, BC in 1965. As an avid sportsman he touched many lives through hunting, fishing, baseball, bowling, and curling and prided himself as being a “Card Game Master”. He was an active member of the Elks and of the Army and Navy (his father a Vet). He was a Professional Driver in the Okanagan for most of his career and loved his profession. His passion for making people laugh will always be remembered and was a true part of his spirit.
The family would like to extend an invitation to join them in James’ Celebration of Life at the Army and Navy Clubhouse, at 270 Dougall Rd N, Kelowna, BC on Saturday August 25th, 2018 from 12:00 – 2:00pm.
