Obituary of James « Jim » Hutcheson
JIM (JAMES) GEORGE HUTCHESON
Jim was born July 16, 1937 in Edmonton, Alberta. He soon moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba and lived in the neighbourhood of East Kildonan with his parents and younger sister. After high school, Jim attended St. John’s College within the University of Manitoba and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After working a short while, Jim went back to school and later graduated with an MBA from Cornell University. He later moved to Toronto where he worked for Imperial Oil and became Manager of Pipeline Engineering.
Jim was a true engineer at heart. He loved anything with a motor. From rebuilding engines and outboard motors to even building the family cottage on Lake Joseph in Muskoka. There was no task he couldn’t accomplish and execute with perfect precision. After the unfortunate loss of his wife, Yvonne Ruth Seon-Hutcheson in 1987, Jim raised his only son James David Thackeray Hutcheson in their house on Haddon Street in Toronto. The father and son bond shared by Jim and Dave was extremely special and will forever be cherished by his only child. Jim passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre on Thursday, April 26th. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES – NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 3rd. The funeral service for Jim will be held in the chapel on Friday, May 4th at 1:00 p.m. Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com
