Lancaster, James “Jim”, 78, of Dartmouth
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Jim Lancaster who passed away Dec 27, 2018 in hospital.
Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather. He was a true example of how to live life to its fullest.
In his life, Jim did work as a stevedore; worked for Halifax Shipyards, as well as operate his own successful business for many years.
His passion for hockey was apparent as he was former president and GM of the Halifax McDonald’s Hockey Club and a season ticket holder of Mooseheads Hockey for 24 years.
Jim loved to travel and spend summers at the family cottage. He pursued his hobbies with much passion and was a founding member of the Halifax Burns Club.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Brenda (Lawson) Lancaster; his sons Burt (Karen Burns) Lancaster, Steve Lancaster, Danny Lancaster, and Mike (Tanya) Lancaster; brother-in-law Bob Brownrigg; sister-in-law Judy Lancaster. He leaves behind several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by his parents Mary and John Lancaster; brother Doug Lancaster; and sister Noreen Brownrigg.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday January 2nd in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth, Rev. James Haughn officiating with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
