Obituary Overview
Jim Nash
James (Jim) Edmund Nash was born in Cochrane, Ontario on July 14, 1933 to Kathleen and Harry Nash. He passed away peacefully at Diamond House Care Home in Warman on Monday, November 26, 2018.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his children: Wendy (Dave) Carstairs and Debbie Penner (Greg Ducharme) and grandchildren: Angela (Russell) Sparks, Ryan Carstairs, Jeff Penner (Kelsey Wood), Breena Penner (Travis Loessin); great grandchildren Isabelle, Caleb, Jude, Isaac, Kyson, Nash, and Blake; his brother Albert (Gail) Nash, and sisters Shirley (Jack) Richards, Doris (Neville) Allen, Louisa Crossthwaite, brother-in-law Bill (Jeannette) Duncan and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Donna, son-in-law Glen Penner, siblings Eileen Campbell and Peggy Woods, niece Lisa Duncan, parents Harry Nash, Kathleen Phillips, and Jack Phillips and parents-in-law James and Evelyn Duncan.
After his parents’ divorce, Jim was raised by his grandparents Albert and Elizabeth Bird. Jim grew up in the forests and lakes of Northern Ontario. He loved everything outdoors, a passion that continued all of his life. As a young man he travelled out West in search of new adventure. While working at the Daylight Bakery in Saskatoon, he met the love of his life, Donna Duncan.
Jim and Donna were married on August 18, 1956 in Saskatoon. They welcomed two daughters, Wendy in 1960 and Debbie in 1963, with both girls sharing a birthday on May 24th. In 1964 they moved to Rosetown and purchased the Rosetown Bakery. For nearly 17 happy years they enjoyed the community of Rosetown and made many lasting friendships. In 1981 Donna and Jim moved back to Saskatoon. Here he enjoyed running a candy vending business, and then retirement. His days included plenty of golf and camping, their dogs, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Jim will be remembered as a man who thrived on hard work, and as someone you could always count on when you needed a hand. He always had time for people: for a handshake, a joke, or a hug; for a drink and a laugh, or a coffee and a conversation. He was a good listener and a patient teacher.
