Jake Unger
Peacefully with family by his side Jake Unger passed away on Wednesday July 25, 2018 at the age of 86 years at the Poseidon Personal Care Centre.
He was predecease by his son Rodney in infancy, his parents Jacob and Margaret, and his three brothers, John, Ben, and Corrie.
Jake leaves to cherish his many memories his wife of 67 years Anges, sons Ken (Sandy), Ray (Karen), Lawrence (Virginia) grandchildren Leigh (Mark), Hannah, Timothy, Beth, Steven, Great Grandson Max as well as his sisters Tina and Evelyn and their families.
Jake was born in 1932 near Plum Coulee Mb. He attended Neue Hoffnung (New Hope) school near Altona Mb. Jake worked as a farmer, a truck driver and for 28 years as a bus driver for Winnipeg Transit. He enjoyed camping, fishing, playing guitar and other instruments, he sang with the Winnipeg Senior’s Fellowship Choir and Music Group for many years. Jake was always willing to lend a hand and he showed it in many was through his volunteer service which included; Park Manor Care Home, Singing at Union Gospel Mission. He was also a member of the Austin Tractor Club, with his favorite being the Allis Chalmers, the CB Radio Club and the Hamm Radio Club. His hobbies also included collecting coins and eating raisin buns. His sense of humor endured to the end, and will forever be missed.
Viewing will be held at 7:00 pm on Monday July 30, 2018 with Funeral Services to be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday July 31, 2018 at the Glen Lawn Funeral Home 455 Lagimodiere Blvd.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Staff at the Poseidon Persona Care Center.
