It is with deep sadness we announce that Jacqueline (Jackie) passed away peacefully at Polson Residential
Care in Vernon, BC on June 7th, 2018 with her daughters by her side.
Jacqueline was born in Cranbrook, BC on May 20th, 1928 to Elizabeth and Geoffrey Spence. She grew up in the Kootenays and after graduation worked as a telephone operator in Trail, BC. She met and married her husband, Don Penner and then moved to Edgewood, BC where they raised five children. Jackie had a passion for horses and shared that love with her children and grandchildren at home and at many gymkhanas. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting and music.
Jackie is survived by her brother, Terry (Carol) Frame of Armstrong; three daughters: Brenda Penner of Edgewood, Cheryl (David) Buhrman of Vernon, and Debbie (James) Webb of Grand Prairie Alberta; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Don Penner; daughter, Karen Settle; son, Ken Penner; and brothers, Richard and Donald Spence.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 23rd, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home in Vernon BC.
We want to extend a very special thank you to her medical care team which included Dr. Norm Lea who provided Jackie with many years of excellent personal care; Jan Thomas and the Edgewood Interior Health Clinic staff; Ann Miskulin and Home Support Caregivers: Kim LaRue, Cindy Boisvert, and Karen Dummet; and VJH and Polson Residential staff. We appreciate all of your professional and loving care to our mother.
