Schmidt, Jacob (Jack):
The Schmidt family is saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Jacob (Jack) Schmidt on October 29th at the Grand River Hospital surrounded by family. Born in Kitchener in 1929. Beloved husband of Coy (nee Forsey), married for 64 years, and loved father of Brad (Irena), Jim (Kelly) and Doug (Ann). Predeceased by his parents Abraham and Agnes and brothers Abe, Peter and Nick and survived by his sisters-in-law Edith, Alice and Ruth. Cherished grampa of James, Scott, Elliott and Taylor, and great-grampa of Austin. He will be fondly remembered by his extended family and friends.
Jack was a member of the Bethany Evangelical Missionary Church where he joyfully sang in the choir for 7 years and served on the church breakfast club for 12 years. He joined the Kitchener Police Force in 1957 where he remained for 32 years serving in various Divisions, spending most of his career with the Detective Division. Jack was also a member of the Waterloo Regional Police Male Choir for 43 years.
Jacob’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 4:30 – 6:15 p.m. followed by a service in the chapel to celebrate Jack’s life at 6:30 p.m. Private cremation to take place.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Bethany Evangelical Missionary Church or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
