Obituary for
Jack Watson Smith
Jack was the loving father of daughter and son he always wanted, Dave and Laurie Ellis. Long time partner of Marian Davis. Proud grampa of Mercedes Hope Stewart. Jack Watson Smith went home in the early hours of September 6, 2018, surrounded by his family, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law.
Jack loved life and all that came with it. His career span included being a mechanic, owning JW Smith Welding & Repairs, Hendrickson`s, to repairing health equipment. After his retirement he increased the travelling he loved with partner Marian Davis, cheered on the Cullitons, participated in many activities at the Stratford Lakeside Active Adult Association and went to more music jamborees than most bands. More than anything he liked to laugh and have a good time. He loved animals, especially the many dogs he had over the years.
Predeceased by his parents Watson and Olive Smith, brothers Harold, Ronald and Wilfred. Also predeceased by his wife Beverly Smith (mother of Laurie). He leaves behind many close family and friends. The family wishes to give their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Bandey who honoured Jack by respecting his wishes and providing the resources necessary to allow him to pass in peace, at home. The team from LHIN Home and Community Care did an outstanding job, especially Laura, Danielle, Valerie and Angela. Words are not enough to describe how much your care and compassion meant to all of us.
A celebration of life will be held at the Stratford Municipal Golf Course Club House, 251 Norfolk Street Stratford on Saturday, September 15th from 6-9 pm. A private family funeral will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Stratford Perth Hospice or the Stratford Dog Park Association. Arrangements entrusted to Rutherford Cremation & Funeral Services. 519-271-5062. Online condolences may be made at rutherford@jarfh.com.
