Ivan Delton Smith
Smith, Ivan Delton – 98 of Dartmouth, passed away at home September 27, 2018 with his daughter, Lorna, at his side.
Ivan was a well-known, and respected, WWII vet, member of the Royal Sus Lodge and Royal Canadian Legion. He continued with the Poppy campaign until he was 97. He will be remembered as an avid gardener who loved to share his vegetables with many friends.
His love for his family was known by all and he went to great lengths to know that everyone knew it.
He was predeceased by his loving wife; Nina, son; Alan, brothers; Simeon, Ralph, Frances, Everett, sisters; Maude, Lillian, Rose, and Erna.
Ivan is survived by sons; Ronald (Louise), Brian (Karen), daughters; Donna, Lorna (Gordon), grandsons; Brent and Scott, granddaughters; Julie (Quin), Stephanie, Ashley, sisters-in-law; Gertrude (Gerald) and Jessie.
Special thanks to CBI Home Health and Nightingale Nursing, friends, Jack, George, Neil and Brenda for their continuous support before and during dad’s illness. Also, to Gordon Byard and his family for all their kindness, love and devotion.
Dad died knowing he was loved unconditionally.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 13th from 2-4 at Atlantic Funeral Homes, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth.
Donations may be made in dad’s memory to any cause dear to your heart as dad was always about helping people and showing kindness and love in any way possible.
