OBITUARY
Isabel Cunningham
September 18, 1935 – October 1, 2018
It is with heavy hearts the family of Isabel Margaret Cunningham announce her passing in her home, in Barrhead, Alberta, October 1, 2018. Isabel was born and raised in Vermilion, Alberta. She was the only child of Irvin and Sally Gordon. Isabel began delivering telegraphs for CNR at the tender age of 8 and continued until she was 17. After finishing high school, she transferred to Edmonton where she continued to work for CNR as a switchboard operator, until she married Gerald Cunningham. They moved to where the work took Gerald and eventually settled on an acreage south of Devon. Together they raised 3 daughters. With one daughter left at home, they moved to a farm south of Barrhead, where they tried their skills at farming. Isabel worked various retail jobs until she retired. She was predeceased by Gerald in 2000. Isabel enjoyed her retirement years with bowling, floor curling and volunteering.
Isabel will remain in the heart of her family Lorna (Gerard) Portelance, Bonnie (Russ) Tessier, Barb (Lance) Belke, 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 15 at 1:00 at the Barrhead United Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alberta Health Services Barrhead hospital equipment fund.
The family would like to thank Dr. Tawfik for the wonderful care given to our Mom. We are grateful for the love and support from all our family and friends.
