It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Irvin Keough, age 77 of Eastern Passage (formally East Bay), on April 19, 2018 at the Dartmouth General Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in Sydney he was the son of the late Archibald and Josephine (MacNeil) Keough.
Irvin retired from the Cape Breton Regional School Board after 25 years as a school bus driver. Irvin also had a passion for horses and harness racing. He served as a judge throughout the Maritimes, including Senior Judge at the Truro Raceway for the Atlantic Provinces Harness Racing Commission.
Irvin was a committed 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Joseph E. Mills Council, 10486 in Eastern Passage. He also was a member of the Eastern Passage/Cow Bay Lions Club and served as the past Vice-President and Director.
Irvin is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ada (Elmourne), son Irvin (Sharon), and daughter Kate (Andrea).He will be greatly missed by his grandsons, Evan and Colin.
The family extends sincere thanks to Dr. Robyn MacFarland, Dr. Derek Wilke , Dr. Soha Rizk and staff at the Dartmouth General for the care and compassion shown during this difficult time.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A celebration of life will be held April 24, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Andrew’s Parish, Eastern Passage. Reception to follow at the Eastern Passage/Cow Bay Lions Club, 65 Hornes Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
