Obituary for Irene Serink
On March 15, 2018, Irene Serink of Edmonton passed away peacefully at the age of 92 years.
Irene is survived by two sons, Brian (Brenda) and Grant (Carmen); four grandchildren, Chantal, JoAnne, Nolan (Carissa) and Marion; seven great-grandchildren, Austin, Brooklyn, Braeden, Jordyn, Spencer, Camilla and James; and daughter-in-law, Lois. Predeceased by her husband, Jim; infant daughter, Karen Joan; and siblings, Bill and Jim Onofrychuk and Mary Florko.
Irene lived a wonderful life, was a world traveler, a grandmother, a great-grandmother and well liked and loved by all who knew her. She enjoyed the events, entertainment, parties and staff at the Jubilee Lodge in her final years.
We thank everyone for the wonderful care at the Jubilee Lodge and excellent professional, compassionate care at A5 Emergency Trauma Unit and 5D2 ward at the University of Alberta Hospital.
A Celebration of Irene’s Life will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Canada, Edmonton and Northern Alberta Chapter, #205, 8712 – 48 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta, T6E 5L1 or to a charity of your choice.
