Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory
The Russell family announces the peaceful passing of their beloved, husband and father Horace George Russell on Monday November 26th at Niagara Falls General Hospital. Horace was ever the optimist and did not let his battle with lung cancer consume him. He was always positive and strong.
Horace, better known as Junior was born in Kingston Jamaica on October 28th, 1951 to Cleopathra Blake and Melbourne Russell. He lived there as a little boy and in 1967 at the age of 16 packed up and left for Toronto alone to start a new life.
In April of 1976 he met his future wife Angela. They went away together on a trip to Jamaica, fell in love and moved in together as soon as they returned. From that point on they built a life together. Their love of travel brought them to adventures throughout the Caribbean. In 1980 they married and in 1981 they had their sole son Gerrald.
Junior always had a smile on his face, a book in his hand and was constantly tinkering with electronics. He worked at CNIB for his
entire carrier and retired after 38 years of dedicated service. It goes without saying that our hearts go out to his family. Cherished husband to Angela and devoted father to Gerrald. Brother in law to Peter (Sue Man), Nick, and MaryAnn (Denis). Devoted uncle to Stephanie, Julie, Michele, Jodie, and Valentina.
Junior will be fondly remembered by his many friends and extended family. He will be missed, as he was greatly loved.
Family and friends will be received at HIGHLAND FUNERAL HOME SCARBOROUGH CHAPEL, 3280 Sheppard Avenue East, Scarborough on Tuesday December 4th from 2 – 4pm.
A Private Funeral Service will take place afterward.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. www.cancer.ca
