Our Mother, Hilda Salmon, passed away peacefully on September 3rd, 2018 with three of her daughters at her side.
Mom was born in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta where she grew up during the Depression. She attended school there. When she met our father, Jim Salmon, they moved to Trail in 1950. Mom raised her five children while Dad worked at CM&S, now Cominco. In 1951, they moved to Fruitvale where they stayed until 1981. When her children joined the Cubs and Girl Guides, Mom joined the Baden Powell to promote guiding and scouting for every child. Upon Dad’s retirement in 1991, they moved to Castlegar to be closer to family. Mom had joined the Royal Canadian Legion while living in Fruitvale and continued to serve devoutly with the Chapter in Castlegar up to her demise.
She is survived by Margaret, Irene (Cahill), Beb (Legebokoff), Garth and Sheila (Wozniuk) plus eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. We will remember her feistiness, courage and energy with love.
Our family wishes to thank the many nurses and doctors who attended Mom in the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital and the nurses and Dr. K. Merritt at Talarico Place for their kindness, patience and professionalism.
Gwen Ziprick of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Hilda Ruth Salmon September 3rd 2018..
