Born: June 4, 1935 Death: September 12, 2018

Herb was an avid hunter and loved spending time at the camp and four wheeling near St. Stephen. He loved the « good ol’ hockey game » especially Gordie Howe, Wayne Gretzky and Sydney Crosby – and never missed Don Cherry in the Coach’s Corner. He loved nothing more than a big feed of fried clams and a piece of haddock from Ossie’s Lunch, making the trek to Bethal for 60+ years.

He retired from NB Power at the age of 57 after 34 years of service as a lineman, dispatch then internal audit living in St. George, Norton, Woodstock then Fredericton.

He kept a diary for over 50 years tracking the weather, family events and daily life. He enjoyed his retired years spending time with family and friends, his favourite past times were hunting, fishing, spending time at his camp and

being Grampie. He also enjoyed genealogy and published a book on the history of the Dewar family.
Herb battled cancer many times and won – this time his body was just too tired.
There will be no visitation or funeral at his request.
Interment will take place in the Douglas Rural Cemetery on Saturday, September 15th, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. immediately followed by a gathering of family, friends and neighbors at the home he built at 112 McAdam Ave, Fredericton to share in a celebration of a life well lived.
The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses in Palliative Care as well as Drs. Wood, Stymist and Goodyear. We would also like to thank Elaine and Tracy, Drs. Raza, Broad and Swan all of Oncology at the DECH for all they do.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
