Henry Schlichting
HENRY SCHLICHTING
It is with sadness and gratitude for a long and full life, that the family announces the passing of Henry Schlichting on June 28, 2018.
He was born on November 16, 1925 in Morden, MB. In 1944 he moved with his family to Sanford where he farmed for many years with his three brothers. He married Nellie (Wiebe) on July 3, 1952 and they worked side by side farming and raising their family. He retired to town and enjoyed golfing, fishing, curling, bowling, wood working, camping, biking and gardening.
Some notable adventures took them to Hawaii and several U.S. States. Sundays were treasured times with extended family, enjoying picnics and excursions to local beaches. He volunteered his time helping neighbours, camp building and ushering in church.
He is survived by his loving wife Nellie, of 66 years, his five sons and three daughters and their families including grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, two brothers, five sisters, a granddaughter and son-in-law.
Words cannot convey our gratitude for the wonderful love and care shown by the many who tended to Dad’s needs over the past four years. A special thanks to the staff at the Boyne Lodge in Carman.
If so desired, donations can be made to the Boyne Valley Hospital Corp. PCH Capital Fund.
Rest in peace Dad, we love you.
A private interment will be held prior to the service at Springstein Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Springstein Mennonite Church.
