Helena Marie Allday
It is with great sadness that we, the family of Marie Allday, announce her passing at Cape Breton Regional Hospital at the age of 75, on November 4th, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Timothy and Edna (Joyce) LaRusic.
Born on Cape Breton Island on February 16th 1943, she lived the majority of her married life in the Halifax Area and moved home upon the retirement of her husband. Marie worked her entire life as a seamstress first making dresses and later making draperies. Her handiwork can be found in many prominent locations throughout Nova Scotia including in the Palliative Care Ward of the hospital where she spent her last days. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, cross stitching and tole painting.
Survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert Allday, her daughter Melissa Benoit (Roland), Truro NS, and sons Derrick (Lisa), Riga Latvia, and Joseph (Wanda), Lower Sackville NS. Also loved by her grandchildren Taylor, Travis and Justin Benoit, Madison, Braedon, and Ashlyn Allday and Gylliann Allday. Marie also has 8 surviving siblings (Sid, Pauline, Greg, Ed, Joyce, Willie, Doug and Lorne), many nieces and nephews and close friend of over 60 years Gloria Youden.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Anthony in infancy.
Funeral will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Sydney River on Thursday November 8, 2018 at 11 am with a reception to follow. Family burial to take place at Resurrection Cemetery. No visitation will be held at Marie’s request. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in loving memory of Marie Allday to Hospice Cape Breton.
