Greenlees, Helen Roberta Moore
Peacefully with her family by her side at Fairmount Home on Tuesday August 14, 2018 at the age of 101. Beloved wife of the late Morris Greenlees. Dear mother of Jack (Caroline), Bill (Darlene), Gary (Bev), Teddy (Theresa) and Julie (Allan). Predeceased by daughter in law Susan. She will be sadly missed by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Also survived by her sister Marjorie Thompson and sister in law Marjorie Moore and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by siblings Frances (Gerald), William, Reg and brother in law Jim Thompson. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Fairmount Home for the compassion and care shown to our mom.
Born to her dearly departed parents Kathleen and Edward Moore in Glenburnie on April 30, 1917. Our mother began playing the piano at 4 years old. She attended the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and obtained her teaching degree in Music. She dedicated her life to music, which she loved to share, through teaching at various one room school houses throughout the county, church organist at St. James Anglican Church in Joyceville for many years, being a Grand Pianist with the Order of The Eastern Star, a devoted member of the Women’s Institute and the White Shrine. She was a very accomplished woman, dedicating her life to many charitable organizations. A lady full of grace, love and generosity who touched many hearts.
The family will receive friends at the Robert J. Reid & Sons, “The Chapel on the Corner”, 309 Johnson Street, (at Barrie Street), on Thursday 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held at Glenburnie United Church, 1028 Unity Road, on Friday August 17, 2018 at 11am. Interment Glenhaven Memorial Gardens. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
