Helen Buhr (nee Peters) passed away on October 1, 2018 in Edmonton, Alberta.
Helen was born on October 23, 1937 in Didsbury, Alberta to Heinrich (Henry) Peters and Margaret Neufeld. She was the second of seven children. Helen married Anton (Tony) Buhr in 1960. They had a loving and respectful marriage and were each other’s best friend. Helen and Tony had two children, Bradley and Douglas. Later Helen and Tony adopted Vivian and Richard after their parent’s death. Helen spent the last years of her life at the Good Samaritan Society Care Centre near Southgate in Edmonton.
Helen was predeceased by her parents and brother Albert.
Helen is survived by siblings, Elsie, Wally, Barbara, Margaret and Lil.
Helen is survived by her husband Tony; children Brad (Helen), Doug, Vivian (Lane), Richard; grandchildren Jocelyn (Jonathan), Noah (Rachelle), Taryn (Michael), Emily (Min), Grace; and great grandchild, Eloise.
Helen was a wife, mother, grandmother and most recently, a great-grandmother. She loved her career as a teacher, loved the children and was loved by the children. Helen was kind with a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to read, go for walks and was a good conversationalist. Her faith was important to her and singing hymns and praise songs was a joy. She was great cook. She was caring.
The family wishes to thank the staff on the third floor of Good Samaritan for their care of Helen over the past 10 years. The staff especially remember Helen for her smile.
A private family Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held in Edmonton on October 25, 2018.
