Helen Bernice Pearson, age 91, of Greenwood Court, Stratford and formerly of 124 Church Street, Stratford was surrounded by family when she passed away into splendor on Tuesday February 27, 2018. Born in Caledonia, she was the daughter of the late Reginald Gillan and the former Priscilla Douglas.

Dear mother of Judith Dawn Pearson of Burton, New Brunswick, Brian Craig Pearson and wife Cathy of Stratford, and Laura Christine Pearson of London. Helen was the constituency secretary for the Honourable Bill Jarvis PC MP and Dr. Harry Brightwell MP. She served as President of the Stratford Women’s Association of the Conservative Party. She was a proud member of First Baptist Church, St. Marys and a former President of the Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec and a former Vice-President of the Baptist Federation of Canada. Helen was actively involved in many volunteer roles with different groups and was nominated three times as Citizen of the Year for her volunteer endeavours. She received the Queen’s Jubilee Medal for her work with Alcohol and Drug Concerns Inc. Helen could never understand why anyone would want a computer when you could pick up the telephone or sit down and write a card or note – she loved to send and receive correspondence. Her endearing laugh and stories live on.
Helen’s family is grateful for the excellent and compassionate care she received at Greenwood Court over the past five years as she transitioned from apartment, to assisted living and finally to the nursing home.
