Hazel A. Wright
1919-2018
Hazel A. Wright, 98, widow of the late Elmer Wright Sr.
of Stoney Creek passed away on August 25th, 2018, at
her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Hazel was born on High Street, Moncton on September 6th, 1919,
but lived all her life but six weeks in Albert County. She
was the daughter of the late William and Ella
(Garland) Geldart.
Hazel was a very active and faithful life long member of
the Stoney Creek Baptist Church. She held
the office of clerk for 11 years, was a deaconess for 10 years, was on
the Finance Board, and also served as a teller. She was
Secretary Treasurer and a Teacher in the Sunday School. A
life member of the Women’s Missionary Society
of Stoney Creek also Dominion Life, life member of
the Stoney Creek Women’s Institute, and life member
of the New Brunswick Women’s Institute. Hazel was an active
member of the Albert Conservative Party and held the office of
Secretary for almost 20 years, a life member of the Albert P.C.
Association and a life member of the NB Conservative Party.
She loved to bowl and was a member of
the Parklane Senior Bowling Team
in Riverview, she bowled well into her 90s. She
also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and reading. She was an avid
Toronto Blue Jays fan. Above all things she was a devoted
wife and mother, her family was very important to her and she loved
them all very much. When you met Hazel she would always
greet you with that warm smile and her generous and gentle heart
always shone through. She was truly a special lady who will
be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
She will be deeply missed by her five sons, Ernest (Lucy)
of Stoney Creek, John (Betty) of Albert Mines, Elmer
Jr. (Ann) of St. Margarets, Herbert of Columbia and Dana
(Maryanne) of Stoney Creek; one daughter Cindy Wright (Cliff)
of Petitcodiac; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 4
great-great grandchildren; sister
Eileen Stienfort (Bill) of Oshawa, Ont.; half
brother Aldon (Byanca) of Salisbury. She will also
be missed by several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved
husband Elmer Wright; daughter Mae; grandson, Douglas
Wright; an infant sister, Marion; infant brothers, Lawrence and
Addison; half sister Beth Garland.
She will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with
visitation on Monday evening from 6-9pm. The funeral service
will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home onTuesday, August 28th,
2018 at 2:00pm with Pastor
Douglas Steeves officiating. Internment
will be held in the Wilmot Cemetery,
Lower Coverdale.
