OBITUARY
Harry Zachozy
January 8, 1955 – October 31, 2018
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the daughters of Harry Nickolas Zachozy announce he passed away suddenly in the mid-morning hours of Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
He was only 63 years old.
Dad was born in Sioux Lookout, Ont. on Jan. 8, 1955 to the late Joyce Bandola and Nickolas Zachozy. Dad always was proud of his Jan. 8 birthday, which he shared with Elvis Presley and most importantly with his grandson, Bentley Bragg.
Dad was a heavy-duty equipment mechanic and long-haul trucker by trade, and he was the best driver we have ever known.
In our childhood, he taught us to fish and took us hunting, and because of his card-playing expertise, we learned how to play Cribbage like a pro. He also was funny and had a great laugh.
He loved to sing and he had a good voice. Singing was a passion for him as much as being an outdoorsman.
Dad could be challenging and difficult, and often stubborn, and we didn’t always see eye-to-eye, but he was ours and he loved us fiercely and we loved him right back, and we dearly wish we could tell him so again.
Our Dad was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Norma Long and Margaret Ams.
Harry leaves behind his three daughters, Megan the fearless leader, Colleen the kind-hearted, and Heather the pursuer of growth. Harry also had six grandchildren, Adam Parks, Julie Parks, Charlie Rydoell, and Bentley, Harley, and Wyley Bragg—all of whom he was very proud.
Harry also is survived by his nieces, Sheila and Barbara Turner of Alberta.
And Shelley Haney who was always there for Dad anytime he needed a hand or a shoulder to lean on.
Our mother, Beth Caldwell, has been the lighthouse in the darkness; we could not do this without her.
Cremation has taken place, and at our Dad’s request, there will be no funeral service.
In memoriam donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association and/or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
In remembrance of Harry, we, his daughters, implore you to please take the following advice to heart because you hear people say it all the time and they’re right:
You are only promised today so make it count. Put your differences aside. Talk to one another. Try your best to reconcile your differences before it is too late so that you don’t have to live with the words you did not say often enough, be that “I still love you, » « I will miss you very much, » or » I forgive you.”
Goodbye, Dad, we love you. We will stay together always, and you live on within us and will never be forgotten.
