It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Harry Edwin Silver which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, May 20th, 2018. Born 1936, in Deep Brook, NS, he was the son of the late Fernley Edwin and Lydia Rachel (Haynes) Silver. Harry travelled the world as a Merchant Marine. He went to sea in 1955 at the age of 19. In 1966, he went to Vietnam on the Swell Master under contract with the US Navy. Harry sailed until an injury in 1981 left him permanently disabled. He loved the sea and remained friends with his fellow ship mates throughout his life. In 2003, Dorothy and Harry retired to their beloved sedawood.
Harry is survived by his loving and devoted wife Dorothy (Walker) Silver of 37 years; sons Robert “Bobby” (Darlene) and Danny (Wanda) of Willow Grove; daughters Deborah Marr (Stephen) of Willow Grove, Wendy Stoneham (Scott) of Kingston, Virginia Walker of Penticton, BC; sister Dianne Skinner (John) of Digby, NS; grandchildren Alicia, Joshua, Robbie, Ashley, Trevor, Ryan, Jazmin, Hailey, Tara; great grandchildren Kolby, Athina, Aura; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Tuesday, May 22nd from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Wednesday, May 23rd at 2 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Harry may be made to The Alzhiemer’s Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
