Barry, H. Maureen – Surrounded by her family, it is with
great sadness we announce the passing of Helena Maureen (Strang) Barry
of Saint John, NB, wife of the late Joseph Esmonde Barry, which
occurred on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the Saint John Regional
Hospital. Born in Malden, NB, she was the daughter of the late John
and Pauline (Sweeney) Strang.
She is survived by her children: Dr. Brian (Elizabeth) Barry
of Ottawa, Katherine Cotton of Kingston, Jane (Stanley) Frank of
Ottawa, Ellen Sargent of Saint John, Ronald (Doreen) Barry of Saint
John, Eileen Keating of Saint John, Ronald (Doreen) Barry of Saint
John, Eileen Keating of Saint John, Gregory (Lynne) Barry of Calgary,
Captain Denis (Susan) Barry of Rothesay, Joseph (Tara) Barry of Saint
John, Christopher (Carole) Barry of Rothesay, Dr. Susan (Jerry)

Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by her
son: Kevin Patrick Barry; her sister: Elizabeth Cullinan; her brother:
Raymond Strang; her grandson: Mathieu Turcotte; her brothers-in-law:
Murray McInerney, Douglas Steele, Gerard Barry, George Byrne; her
sisters-in-law: Nancy Strang, Patricia Barry and sons
–in-law: Gary Sargent and Peter Cotton.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row,
Saint John, NB, (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, November 21,
2018 and Thursday, November 22, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The
Cathedral Catholic Women’s League will hold a prayer vigil
at 2 pm on Wednesday, November 21, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated on Friday, November 23, 2018 from the Cathedral of
the Immaculate Conception at 12:10 pm. Interment will take place in
St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers remembrances to J.
Esmonde Barry Healthcare Scholarship Fund (c/o St. Malachy’s
Memorial High School Saint John), Gary Sargent Memorial Scholarship
Fund (c/o St. Malachy’s Memorial High School Saint John),
St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, Romero House or a charity
