Gwen (Gina) Dalkin Davis
The family and friends of Gina Dalkin Davis mourn the passing of the love of our lives’. Leaving us on May 25th, 2018 Gina was the eldest of 14 siblings born to Rose Delorme on January 17, 1943 in Fort Qu’ Apelle, Saskatchewan. Her family moved to Listowel where she attended public school and later graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
In the late 60’s Gina was a Radar Operator on the “Dew Line” in the Royal Canadian Airforce where she met her first husband on the base in Clinton Ontario. She later went on to enjoy multiple and successful careers in the Toronto region including her work with Simpson Sears and Eatons. For a brief time Gina was the personal secretary for the Canadian Ambassador to the United States. Her greatest success was the establishment of the Canadian Tire Dealers’ Association which she ran for 10 years and later on became the recording secretary for the Senior Dealers’ Association, a position she held until her passing.
In 2003 Gina married the true love of her life Walter Gordon Davis in a elegant ceremony at Windrush Farm north of Toronto Ontario, surrounded by all her family and friends. Walter and Gina moved together to Goderich Ontario upon his retirement in 2004 where they have lived since during which time Gina became active in the local Nature Conservancy and was president of Huron Fringe Field Naturalists.
Gina’s life was filled with great wine, beautiful art, classical music, botanical excellence and the urge to travel and explore exotic destinations. Through her entire life she has always loved painting and drawing as is evident in the art work that she leaves us with. Her joy and perception of the world is driven through the challenges she has had to undertake and overcome with absolute Gina strength and enthusiasm. Her elegance and beauty is undeniable.
