Obituary of Greta Taverner
Greta Taverner passed away peacefully at the Carmelite House after a short battle with ovarian cancer on October 8, 2018; aged 71 years. Predeceased by her mother Edna and father Clayton Smart and brother Wayne. Left with fond and loving memories is her husband and best friend Ed Taverner; daughter Krista (Jimmie); son Michael (Kayla); mother-in-law Lily Taverner; sister Yvonne (Ted); brothers Terry (Colleen), and Dennis (Gwen); grandchildren Adam, Regan, Caleb, Colby, and Callie; and a close circle of other relatives and friends.
Resting at Hoskins Funeral Home, Bishop’s Falls on Thursday, October 11, 2018, 2-4 PM and 7-9PM. Funeral service will be conducted on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the United Church, Bishop’s Falls.
In her memory donations may be made to the Grand Falls-Windsor Cancer Centre.
Greta was born on July 31, 1947 to Edna (Holloway) and Clayton Smart, their first born. She was raised in Lethbridge. In 1968, she married Ed and later welcomed the births of two children, Krista and Michael. Greta and Ed were inseparable and their lives were filled with happiness and adventure. They lived in Bishop’s Falls, NL, Riverview, NB, Lower Sackville, NS, and Sydney, NS where she made friends and worked at Scotiabank. She loved planning adventures like trips up to the camp, cross country skiing, walks with friends, snowmobiling, kayaking, and travelling. She enjoyed lots of activities including darts, cards, crafts, gardening, aquafit, shopping, and of course playing with her grandkids. She was the instigator of countless gatherings, dances, and dress up fun with close friends and family. She will be greatly missed…
