Grant passed away peacefully at home in Bradford with Laurie at his side after a long and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 62.
Beloved partner of Laurie Ioannou. Dear father of Stephanie.
Loving son of Lloyd and Nancy Wilkinson. Dear brother of Jeffrey and the late Bill (2016).
Grant will also be missed and remembered by Stephanie’s mother Karen.
Grant retired from Halton Regional Police in 2009 after 34 years service. In retirement, he worked for the Office of the Independent Police Review Director. In 2012, he was awarded the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Medal for his work with The Special Olympics.
Grant’s family will receive relatives and friends on SATURDAY, JANUARY 12, 2019 from 12 noon until 12:45 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A memorial service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 followed by a reception.
Private cremation has taken place.
Special thanks to the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre at the Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, and Dr. Shaquil Kassam, Dr. Alisha Kassam and the community palliative care nurses for all their support and care.
As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations in Grant’s honour to the Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
