Gordon Earl Wildman Eden Valley March 3 1956 August 25 2018

Councillor Gordon Wildman
March 3, 1956 – August 25, 2018
Born in Eden Valley, Alberta
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin, while surrounded by family. At the time of his passing he served as a Bearspaw Band Council Member for 15 years. He was elected in 1998-2011 and was re-elected in 2016 till present. He served his people with humbleness and compassion. He loved his community, he… was devoted to his people, devoted to his culture and to maintain their identity in the complex world we have today. He was also an advocate for Health and Wellness and was a board member for many of the programs. Gordon had many accomplishments throughout his life. He completed his grade 12 in Morley, worked with the W.O.P and was a school bus driver for the Stoney Nation in Morley and Eden Valley, he then worked as a Social Worker, and was also an Addictions worker with NNADAP in Eden Valley. This is a huge loss for our Community because he had so much history and understanding from the teachings of his Late father Earl Wildman. He was a Rodeo member in the IRCA, CPRA, he rode Bareback and competed in Steer Wrestling, played and coached Baseball and Hockey, he was a Referee for hockey.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Virginia of 46 years. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle cousin and colleague. He is survived by his children Charity, Ursula (Jordon), Linda (Terrence) and Cory (Lindsay); 15 grandkids; 5 great-grandkids; brother-in-law Sam Ear; sisters-in-law Francis (Donnie) Ear, Christine Ear, Marjorie (Frank) Chiniquay, Josephine Ear; Cousins Harry (Karen) Wildman, Elaine, Jacki (Carver) Slater, Gloria, Cecilia Lefthand, Barbara (Orville) Daniels, Rita Pooreagle; Adopted Brother Myron Baptiste; Adopted Sons Bradford Ear, Travis Olds, Randy LaBelle and extended family from the Riders, Crawlers and Wildman; Nieces Collana Wildman, Lorraine Kootenay, Tracella Labelle, Mary Alice (Glen) Crawler; Nephews Teddy (Maureen) Holloway, Lionel (Kim) Wildman, Glenna (Gerald) Mark, Milly, Tammy and Claska Wildman.
He was predeceased by his parents Earl and Mary Wildman; brothers Warren Wildman, Cameron Simeon; Son Garon Wildman; sisters Jackie Wildman, Darlene Simeon; granddaughter Mercedes Daniels; great-grandson Coy Daniels. Families from Eden Valley, Morley and Bighorn. We apologize if we have missed anyone we announced.
Prayers will be held on Wednesday August 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel, High River. Wake service will be held on August 29 and August 30 at the residence of late Gordon Wildman at Eden Valley. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Chief Jacob Bearspaw School, Eden Valley, Alberta.
