Obituary of Glenn Way
GLENN FREDERICK WAY
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Glenn Frederick Way on Friday, July 6, 2018. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family listening to his favourite music.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Jane; his three children Jessica, Tobin (Michel), Shannon (Chris and children Alex and Max), his stepdaughter Alicia (children Bria, Genna and Alec) and his former wife Brenda.
Glenn was born on May 9, 1942 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario and grew up in Lennoxville, Quebec where he developed a lifelong passion for curling. He attended Bishop’s University where he was a member of the Varsity Football Team. He moved to Toronto after graduating and made the city his home for the remainder of his life. Glenn was passionate about sports, teaching, the environment and energy conservation. He was a much-loved Science Teacher at Northern Secondary School and founded the Gifted Enrichment Program that continues to thrive today thanks to his years of leadership. In his retirement he became an outdoor education teacher at the Kortright Centre for Conservation.
Glenn was extremely close to his family and friends. He cherished his grandchildren and family vacations. He was a dedicated friend to his Bishop’s Persephone Group, the Beaver Valley Athletic Association and his curling buddies The Suburban Schoolmasters.
Whether you knew him as Glenn, Mr. Way, Dad, Papa, Grandpa or “Eagle” he didn’t believe in good-bye, only (as he would say) “see you later”.
A special thank you to the staff at Valleyview Residence where he spent his last three years and his neurologist Dr. Lorraine Kalia at Toronto Western Hospital.
Cremation has occurred and a private family service has taken place. A celebration of Glenn’s life will follow at a later date.
