Death Notice
Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 4, 2018, Gladys Amelia Russell passed away at the age of 87. Gladys is survived by Jack, her loving husband of 66 years; children Larry (Debra) and Wayne (Maxine); grandchildren Carissa, Chantelle (Lesley Girard), Zachary, Nathan (Alicia Kerr) and Jacklyn; and great-granddaughter Evelyn. She is also survived by her sisters Isabel (the late Alex) Greenhalgh and Margary (the late Colin) Robinson; brother Fred (Bev) Lindars; sisters-in-law Marion Lindars and Doris (the late Lewis) Wright; brother-in-law Ross (Carolyn) Russell; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her daughter Heather, parents Fred and Luvia Lindars and brother Norman Lindars. Gladys was a longtime employee at Scotiabank in Petrolia. “Gabby Gladdy” was a social butterfly, and enjoyed playing cards with her neighborhood friends. She was a great cook, and even better baker! Gladys will be remembered most for her devotion to her family and friends, and will be missed by all those who knew her.
Visitation
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Service
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia. Interment to follow in Hillsdale Cemetery, Petrolia.
Donations
In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada (cheques only at the funeral home please).
