Obituary of Giuseppe ROSSI
Giuseppe “Joe” Rossi passed away peacefully on December 8, 2018 at 92. Joe was born in Careri, Reggio Calabria, Italy on September 13, 1926. In 1951 he left for Canada, seeking a better life. In 1958 he returned to Italy, where he met and married his beloved Rosa. They settled in Cranbrook and worked hard to make a good life for themselves and their three sons. Over the next 20 years, they built the six houses in which they lived. In his spare time, Joe loved to garden and to play bocce.
Joe worked in construction until retiring in 1991. In 1998, Joe and Rosa moved to Victoria to be closer to their sons and grandson. In Victoria, Joe took up and excelled in lawn bowling, making many new friends. He continued to garden and loved growing figs again, as he had done in Italy.
Joe is lovingly remembered by his wife Rosa, sons Tony (Sikina), Mimmo (Marcia), and John (Amy), and grandson Michael; brothers Tony (Carmela-deceased) and Nunziato (Giuditta), and sister Carmela (Luigi); and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, and cousins. Predeceased by siblings Concetta (Bruno-deceased), Rosalia (Francesco-deceased), Teresa (Bruno-deceased), Rocco (Katy), Maria (Antonio), and Elisabetta.

At Joe’s request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the BC Cancer Foundation in Joe’s memory, or to the charity of your choice.
