Gaetano, Giuseppe
(March 8, 1938 – July 28, 2018)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Giuseppe, peacefully at the Civic Hospital, surrounded by his wife and family. Born in Fiumara, Reggio Calabria, Italy, he immigrated to Ottawa in October 1959 at the age of 21. Survived by Carmela (Princi), his loving wife of 58 years, children Mario (Rita), Domenico (Angie) and Pina (Renato Buda). Cherished Nonno of, Matthew (Alyssa), Andrew, Nicholas, Alyssa, Amanda, Mekayla and Giuseppe and Bis Nonno of Avery. Predeceased by his parents Mariano and Giuseppa (Ianusso), brother Giovanni (Fortunata). Survived by in-laws Maria (late Antonino Princi), and Maria (late Rocco Floccari) and devoted caregiver Victoria Hunu. Predeceased by in-laws Giuseppe Princi (Franca) and Rocco Princi (Antonietta). His quiet, strong loving demeanor and radiant smile will be deeply missed by many friends and relatives. Giuseppe actively contributed his time to the Italian community. He volunteered for 40 years at St. Anthony’s Parish, was a long-time executive member of the Sons of Italy Society and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus St. Anthony’s Council No. 11726. He contributed proudly to Canadian heritage as a Master Tailor with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home – Somerset Chapel
