CANDOTTO, Gino – it is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Gino on Wed Aug 22, 2018 at the age of 89 years. Beloved husband to Ines for 55 years. Cherished father to Marco.
Gino was born on his family farm in Castions di Strada, Italy on Aug 03, 1929. Son of Luigi and Susanna Candotto. After completing military service he immigrated to Canada in 1953. He worked as a farm hand and as a construction labourer for a few years until he moved to Port Colborne and started working at Inco in 1956. Gino was a proud member of the United Steel Workers of America Local # 6200 as well as the Quarter Century Club. He retired from Inco in 1989 and enjoyed yard work around his home and loved his vegetable garden. He and his wife took numerous trips to Italy over the years to visit their family and friends.
Along with his wife and son, Gino is survived by his family in Italy but he will be especially missed by his nephew Fernando De Felice and his niece Antonella De Felice and their families in Abruzzi. His family would like to extend a heartfelt ‘Thank You’ to Marcella Citrigno for her compassion and friendship during Gino’s decline.
In keeping with Gino’s wishes a private family entombment will take place at PLEASANTVIEW MEMORIAL GARDENS. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be appreciated by his family. You are invited to share your condolences on-line at www.pleasantviewcemetery.ca
