It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Giacomo
Antonio Tristani on the morning of Friday, April 13, 2018 at the age of 95.
Devoted husband of 70 years to Giovanna (nee Oddi). Beloved father to Jo (Tom) McNulty, Roger (Anna) and Rosanna (Steve) McLaughlin. Dearly loved Nonno of Brendan, Alexandra, Giacomo (Felicia), Melissa, Christine, Nicolas, Matthew and Lauren. Predeceased by his parents Nicola and Giuseppina, in-laws Vincenzo and Annina Oddi. Brother to the late Cesidia Oddi (late Vittorio), the late Fernando Tristani (Iolanda), the late Elio Tristani (Anna), Irma Chiota (late Domenico), Rosario Tristani (Carmela) and the late Iva D’Amato (Fiore). Brother-in-law to the late Liberatore Oddi (Gaetana), the late Angelo Oddi (Anna) and Francesco Oddi (Nina). Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Friend to all. He will be missed by many. Giacomo left his home town of Pettorano sul Gizio, Italy, to brave a new adventure in Hamilton, Ontario in May 1954 so that he could start a better life and raise and care for his family. He loved his children and was devoted to his grandchildren who meant the world to him. On arrival to Canada, Giacomo worked in construction and later as a crane operator at Stelco, retiring in 1991. He had a story for everything and his audience never tired of hearing the same tale or joke. His summer days were spent in his backyard tending to his garden, making sure there were plenty of tomatoes for his friends and family. The family would like to thank the staff of Macassa Lodge for the care they gave and the genuine affection they had for our father. Visitation will be held at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street E., Hamilton on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 2-5 pm and Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 5-9 pm with vigil prayers at 5 pm. Funeral Mass will be offered at Blessed Sacrament Church, 305 East 37th. St., Hamilton on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 10:00 am. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Macassa Lodge, Volunteer Association would be greatly appreciated.
