Passed away peacefully at Innisfree House, on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the age of 86 surrounded by her loving family and friends. Beloved wife of the late Rudolf « Rudy » Lorfing (2015) for 60 years. Loving mother of Rosemarie Traplin (Tom) of St. Catharines and Irmgard Lorfing (John Bot) of Kitchener. Dear Omi of Jim Traplin (Christina) and Nicole Traplin (Jamie Davidson) and Great-Omi of Logan, Connor and Lilah. Dear sister of Erika Scheinost, Edda (Manfred) Huller and Inge (Bernd) Ludi. Predeceased by her parents Martin and Regina Bodnaruk.
Gertrude was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and the Schwaben Club. She was a proud homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, as well as gardening. Gertrude will be sadly missed by her friends at Court at Laurelwood Retirement Home. Special thanks to Dr. David Grant for his care over the years and the staff at Innisfree House who provided such amazing care.
Gertrude’s family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, December 2, 2018 and from 10:15-10:45 a.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener 519-749-8467. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Interment St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. Reception to follow at the funeral home. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church or Innisfree House would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
