Gerald (John) Fisher of Calgary, Alberta passed away at the age of 51 years, at the Rockyview General Hospital, on Sunday, October 28, 2018 after suffering a heart attack.
John was born and raised in Calgary and attended Haddon Road Elementary, Woodman Junior High School, and Lord Beaverbrook High School. John was a Power Engineer and had a career as a Building Operator, responsible for a variety office and commercial buildings in Calgary. He enjoyed riding his Harley, fishing, and sharing time with family and friends. John will be fondly remembered as a “Mr. Do Anything” or “Mr. Handyman”, taking pleasure puttering around his home and yard. He was always willing to help family and friends repair, install and build all sorts of items from decks to toilets to dog runs, and ensured that the work was done correctly.
John is survived by daughters, Samantha and Stephanie; his mother Susanne; his sister, Patricia Marsh; his brothers, Joseph, and David (Janice); his sister Bonnie Chadwick (Allan Roodt) of Lahaina, Maui; and special friend Susan Payne. John will also be remembered by his nieces and nephew, Jacquelyn of Canberra, Australia, Julianne, and Daniel both of Calgary; as well as extended family of numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, spread across Canada. He was predeceased by his brother James in 2007, and his father Morris in 2016.
The family wishes to extend appreciation and thanks to the paramedics, firemen and staff of the Rockyview General Hospital Intensive Care Unit for the assistance, fine care and compassion provided to John.
At John’s request there will not be a funeral. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be announced at a later date. John’s ashes will be spread at one of his favorite fishing spots.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of your choice.
