In Loving Memory
WRIGHT, Gerald ‘Jerry’ – 1941-2018 – Loving husband of Carol for 53 years. Father of Christopher (Sue) Wright, Kimberley Wright-Whiting (Gary). Papa of Dakota Wright.
Son-in-law of Kay Dawdy, brother-in-law of Lloyd (Nancy) Dawdy, Dreana Dawdy (Gary Butler), Darlene Rusnak (Colin Moss), Uncle of Blake (Caitlyn) Rusnak. Great uncle of Caleb, Isla and Carter. We can’t forget his cousins in England and Canada along with extended family members Tracy (Mark), Amy and Mac Segram and his best friend Bruce Boreham.
Jerry is predeceased by his parents William ‘Bill’ Wright and Edith ‘Dora’ Wright, his father-in-law Stan Dawdy, sister-in-law Cindy Dawdy, nephew David Dawdy and brother-in-law John Rusnak.
He was in the Royal Canadian Navy (1959-1964) and was proud of being a member of the last crew of the HMCS Haida where he and his family often visited the ship in Hamilton.
He worked at the Union Carbide (UCar) for 36 years until the plant closed and he remained in contact with his friends at the UCar Breakfast Club.
He liked to fish, bowl, play crib, go to Bingo with Carol and never wanted to miss watching Jeopardy and the news.
He had fought many battles, but this last one was not to be won and he passed away on Tues Nov 13th, 2018 in his 78th year.
We sincerely want to thank our support teams from CCAC (Lynn), Walker Cancer Clinic, Welland Dialysis, the Welland Hospital Emergency, Palliative Care and Woolcott units as well as everyone who helped us during this time.
In keeping with Jerry’s wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at PLEASANTVIEW FUNERAL HOME (2000 Merrittville Hwy at the corner of Hwy #20) on Mon Nov 19th at 2:00 pm with inurnment to follow.
