OBITUARY
Gerald « Gerry » W. Morine
10 April , 1939 – 21 April , 2018
The family of Gerald (Gerry) Morine are deeply saddened to announce his peaceful passing on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown, NS. Born in Bear River, NS he was the eldest son of the late Gordon and Idella (Chute) Morine.
As a young man he moved to Massachusetts where he spent the preponderance of his working years. In 1970 he met the love of his life, Evelyn (Evie) Lippert and after their marriage together they started his successful tree business, G.W. Morine & Son, in Westford, Massachusetts. He enjoyed and worked at that until his retirement when he moved “back home” to Bear River in 2003. He was a member of Amity/Mosaic Lodge for almost 60 years. Also, a Life Member of Lions Clubs International for 45 years, and a member of the Bear River Baptist Church all his life. Gerry always had a story and made a connection with everyone he met – always in his soft spoken way. He formed so very many friendships over the years.
He loved all of his family but had a special place in his heart for his 7 grandchildren. He would take them for a ride on his tractor and let them drive, he would take them fishing and make it seem like an expedition. Yes, they will truly miss their Grampy. Besides his wife, Evie, he is survived and sadly missed by his son, Corey (Tara) and their children, Phin, Wyatt and Ava Grace, Northfield, Vermont and his daughter, Cassandra (Jim) Bourdon and their children, Abigayle, Isabelle, Emily Mae and Jonah William of Westford, MA. Also, missing his presence are his siblings, brother Bernie, sisters Gloria (Leigh) Wright, Sherry and Debbie all of Bear River, Marilyn (“Junie“) Mullen of Digby, Barbara Coffey of Coxheath, Elaine (“Smokey”) Lavoie of Lower Sackville, Wilma (Dean) Thibideau of Fredericton, NB, and Mae (Bill) Lyon of Vernon, Vermont. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Howard.
He also leaves behind his children from a previous marriage, Carol, Lori (Bob) Vigue, and Jerry (Ratha) all residing in the US. A Memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 5th, 2018 at 2. p.m. at the Bear River United Baptist Church, Rev Earl Waterman officiating. There will be a reception following the service at the Deep Brook/Waldec Lions Hall (wheelchair accessible) Hwy #1, next to Cornwallis Park. All are welcome. Interment will be at the Morganville Cemetery on Sunday for family only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gerry’s name to the Bear River United Baptist Church or a charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place under the care of Jayne’s Funeral Home. “To live in Hearts we leave behind, is not to Die”
