OBITUARY
Gerald Edgar King
July 28, 1965 – December 19, 2018
On December 19, 2018 we lost a loving husband, father, and friend. Gerald King (Jerry), of Lamaline, Newfoundland passed away peacefully in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Jerry was born in Lamaline, Newfoundland on July 28, 1965 to Gerald and Olive (Cake) King and was the youngest of five children.
In 1996, Jerry met Dawn, and together they had four children, Tapanga, Gerald (Bailey), Twyla, and Carleigh. Jerry worked hard all his life to provide for his family. In 2001 he relocated to Halifax to provide them with a better life, and it was in Halifax he and Dawn raised their children. Although he lived in Halifax, his heart always remained in Newfoundland, where he returned every chance he could.
Jerry will be missed by a huge circle of family and friends, sisters Theresa (Allen) and Francis, brother Sam (Betty), mother and father in law Mary and William, sister in law Arnessa, brother in law Paul, nephews Arnold (AJ), Trevor, Craig and Dale, and niece Deanne, and special friends Don King, Jim Lockyer and Edwin and Geraldine Cake.
Growing up in a small community, Jerry was a close friend to many, but none were so dear to him as Mel, Ralph, Lew, Lester, Raymond, Calvin, Nelson, and Jason Martin. They were his brothers, and a huge part of his life.
His hunting buddies, card buddies, and his Lighthouse Family held a special place in his heart. He enjoyed every moment he spent with them through the years.
Jerry was preceded in death by parents Gerald and Olive (Cake) King, brother Chester, father in law Arnold Hodge, aunts and uncles Jessie and Hazel Bonnell, Reginald King, Allan and Lucy Cake, and Mary O’Gay.
He is survived by his wife Dawn, and his four children, Tapanga, Bailey, Twyla, and Carleigh.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December, 28th at 2pm in J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax.
