It is with heavy hearts that the family of George Murray Crothers announce his peaceful passing which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday October 3, 2018. Born in Sus, NB on July 30, 1947. He was the son of the late Murray and Jean (McEwen) (Bateman) Crothers.
George had a lifelong career with NBTel and Aliant in Saint John and Moncton. He was an avid antique car enthusiast and collector of memorabilia. He enjoyed his motorcycle and travelling whether it be a quick trip to New England, an extended trip to Europe or his winters in St. Petersburg, Florida at Harbor Lights Park. Most importantly he loved getting together with his family and many special friends.
George is survived by his loving wife Sylvia (Bond) Crothers; son Kevin Crothers (Stacie); daughter Kim Gorman (Preston); their mother Maureen Crothers (Bob Folkins); grandchildren Allison, Taylor and Ben Gorman, and Meghan Crothers. Step-son Kris Pope (Catherine Richard) and granddaughter Emmilou Pope; sister Sandra Reed, sister-in-law Margaret Crothers, brother-in-law Allan Bond, sister-in-law Judy Bond. As well as many lifelong friends, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his brother Donnie, infant brother Edwin, brothers-in-law Paul Reed and Kevin Bond.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home (506-646-2424), 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB where visitation will take place on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 5 to 8 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marilynn Brewster Officiating. Private Family Interment will take place at Fernhill Columbarium at a later date.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Poirier, Dr.McKnight, Dr. Love and all the staff who cared for George at IV Day Hospital St. Joseph’s, Geriatric Medicine Clinic St. Joseph’s, 4CN and 3BN Palliative Care SJRH. Your kindness and compassion will not be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, Donations in memory of George may be made to Alzheimer Society, Dept. Geriatric Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital or 3BN Palliative Care Unit SJRH.
