OBITUARY
George Eldon Marshall
November 16, 1948 – June 15, 2018
George Eldon Marshall, 69, of Digby, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully at Digby General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
He was a treasured son of Lorraine and the late Guy Marshall. George was best known for his deep faith, love for his family, and a smile and laugh that could light up the room. George was cherished by his family as a devoted father, a fun and tireless Grampie and a gentle and caring husband.
For several years, George owned and operated G.E. Marshall Construction, where his passion for carpentry was evident in all his work. He made many lifetime friends through his customers.
George shared his compassion for others through his volunteer work with Hospice, Canadian Cancer Society, Relay for Life, and the children and staff at Digby Elementary School.
He was a long-time member of South Range Christian Church, and was actively involved in all aspects of church life including many years leading youth group alongside his wife Lynda.
George enjoyed his daily trips to Tim Hortons, socializing with everyone and anyone who would sit and chat. George made friends wherever he went and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his best friend and wife, Lynda (Avery) Marshall, son Steven Marshall of Digby, daughter Tammy (Chris) MacKinnon of Cornwall, PEI, daughter Barbara (Jody Muise) Marshall of New Tusket, daughter Erica (Scott) Forhan of Halifax; 11 grandchildren – Jeremy (Kristy), Josh, Noah, Caleb, Dylan, Evan, Alyssa, Jacob, Elizabeth, Victoria, and Emma, his mother, Lorraine Marshall; brothers, Murray and Larry Marshall, sisters Phyllis Vree and Marilyn Robicheau, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Guy Marshall, infant granddaughter Ashley Amanda Marshall, step-granddaughter Julia Muise and niece Cheryl Marshall.
Visitation will be held 4 to 7 PM at South Range Christian Church on Monday, June 18. Funeral service will be held June 19 at 11 AM at South Range Christian Church with Mark Elley officiating.
