George « Eddie » Stevens
1940-2018
It is with deep sadness that we announce
the passing of George Edward « Eddie »
Stevens, age 78, of River Hebert East, NS.
Eddie passed away peacefully at the Cumberland Regional Health Care
Centre on Thursday, October 18, 2018.
Born in River Hebert, NS, he was a son
of the late Garfield and Lena (Betts) Stevens.
Eddie loved to fish and hunt.
He worked for the Armed Forces for 9 years before moving onto the
Enterprise Foundry in Sackville until his retirement at the age of
70. He enjoyed clamming, time on his Four Wheeler, and
heading out to the camp, or camping at the shore. He had a
great sense of humour and loved to tease family and friends.
His grandchildren always brought a spark to his eyes, and he loved to
see them spoiled.
He will be dearly missed by his wife
Carol, River Hebert East, NS; children Gary (Tracy Patterson), River
Hebert East, Connie Stevens (Doug O’Brien), Southampton, NS
and Crystal (George) Simmonds, Fenwick, NS; 4 grandchildren, Tara,
Jeremy, Michael, and Kayla; 7 great grandchildren; siblings Barbara
(Ronald) Cormier, Oromocto, NB; brother Donald (June), Petiticodiac,
NB, Dorothy (Wayne) Martin, London, ON, Charles (Jean), Tomahawk,
Alberta; Aunt Dorothy Manderson, Moncton, NB; several nieces and
nephews
He was predeceased by his son Harold and
sister Phyllis Trites.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church
St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) where visiting hours will be held from
6 to 8 pm on Friday and on Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 1 pm until
2 pm, followed immediately at 2 pm by the funeral service from
Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, Amherst. Burial will follow in
the Hillside Cemetery, River Hebert, NS.
