Passed away February 23, 2018 at home in Georgetown (Howick), Québec. He leaves to mourn his wife Janice Barr and his five daughters Amber (Will), Shannon (Marc), Allison (Colin), Angela (Chris) and Julie (Josh), seven grandchildren, Aaron, Asha, Rae-Leigh, Divinia, Soleii, Amelia and Mya, as well as brothers Ed (Loraine) and Ian (Diane). Born on September 10, 1946 to Edward Neal and Janet Gilpin, George grew up in NDG and later in Chateauguay. He played sports throughout his youth, especially football at Oxford Park, and hockey. He followed the apprenticeship program at Dominion Engineering in Lachine, which gave him the know-how to take on almost any task. He used this ability throughout his working life, where he had a variety of jobs and was never afraid to tackle something new. The last 30 years were mainly spent doing carpentry, with his free time spent on home renos, looking after his fleet of cars, honing his cooking skills and keeping up with all of his favourite sports teams. George liked to sing and had a great appreciation for all kinds of music. He also enjoyed people and conversation, and his big laugh will be remembered by all who knew him. Many thanks to Dr Krotecki, Robin Ovans and the OMC staff for their professionalism and compassion. Also, to Dr Storring, Lynda Desrochers and the staff of the Cedars Cancer Centre at the MUHC, who were his friends and second family over the past year and a half, and to Lynn Mason and the CLSC for their help and kindness. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Rodrigue Montpetit et Fils Funeral Home in Huntingdon. Visitation will take place at the Funeral Home on Friday, March 2nd, from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral at Athelstan Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday March 3rd.
