OBITUARY
Gemma Isolina Kumpera
19 February , 1922 – 4 May , 2018
Gemma Isolina Kumpera, aged 96, born February 19, 1922, passed away on May 4, 2018 at St. John Hospice in Vancouver BC.
She was a loving wife and is preceded in death by her husband Karl Kumpera, as well as her daughter Anna (Peter) Kramer and son John (Margaret) Kumpera.
She is survived by her son Carl Kumpera, Cherished Grandmother to Christopher Kumpera living in Spain, Derrick (Cathi) Kramer, Debbie Kramer, Dianna (John) Guglielmetti from Detroit, John (Amanda) Kumpera, her great grandchildren Alysha and Kirsten Kramer, Antonio, Julianna, and John Carlo Guglielmetti, John Kumpera Jr.
Born in the little village of Bratto, Bergamo in northern Italy, when at the age of 13, she and her family moved to London, England and opened a restaurant. It was there she met her husband to be Karl during WW11, and shortly thereafter Anna and John were born.
After leaving England and travelling throughout Central and South America, they eventually moved and settled in Vancouver, where their third child Carl was born.
Gemma was a strong and vibrant woman, who always spoke her mind and will be forever cherished by all of those fortunate to have met her.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at Ocean View Funeral Home at 4000 Imperial, Burnaby on May 18, 2018 at 11:00am.
