Obituary of Gage Severson
Gage Cache Severson, age 4, passed away unexpectedly Monday September 3rd, 2018 at the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary, Alberta, following a month-long battle with ADEM (acute disseminated encephalomyelitis). He was the third child born to John and Jodie (Geck) Severson on May 18, 2014 in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. Gage was born with Trisomy 21, also known as Down’s Syndrome, and taught us all how to embrace our differences and how to love purely. He loved life and woke up each day with a smile. With his easy-going nature and big grin, he touched many many hearts. He was very involved in the community and loved to visit with others whether at the pool, in the classroom, or even the grocery store. Even though Gage didn’t have words, he had a special way of letting everyone know how much he loved them.
Gage is lovingly remembered by his parents John and Jodie; his siblings Sadie, Kaysen, and Bryer; his Auntie Holly (Dean) Boyd and their children (Clayton, Brendan and Janessa, Ashley, and Alton); Uncle Nolan (Kim) Severson and their children (Logan and Britnee); Uncle Russell (Darlene) Severson and their children (Seth, Cy, and Soren); Uncle Amos (Jaida) Severson and their children (Koba, Chip, Dally, and Tenner); Uncle Jamin (Tanzi) Severson and their children (Tryn, Talon, and Sequoia); Uncle Layne Geck; Uncle Cody (Amanda) Geck and their children (Kade and Kianna); and Auntie Jessica (Sheldon) Squair and their children (Lily, Otto, and Adalyn); Grandpa Dale Geck; Grandma Dale Geck; and many family and friends. He is predeceased by his grandparents Martin and Cora Severson, cousin Colby Becker, and great-uncle Dean Becker.
The family would like to express their thanks to the Alberta Children’s hospital PICU team, the Rocky Mountain House community, and friends and family for all their love, care, and support.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 8, 2018 from the Nexsource Centre – Sylvan Lake Multi-Plex (4823 49 Ave, Sylvan Lake, Alberta). Interment will take place in the Fridhem North Cemetery.
If family and friends desire, memorial contributions in Gage’s memory may be made to Alberta Children’s Hospital – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (2888 Shaganappi Trail NW Calgary, Alberta T3B 6A8).
