Gabriel Gareau
Gareau, Gabriel of Saskatoon, Sk. It is with great sadness that Gabe passed away with his family by his side at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, Sk on Monday May 21, 2018. Gabriel was born to Paul and Julie Gareau on January 14, 1945. He lived his early life in Bellevue, Sk. His High School was spent at Notre Dame College in Prince Albert, Sk. He pursued his studies at the University of Saskatchewan and obtained a Bachelor of Education. He met and fell in love with Marguerite Croteau and they married in 1971. A few years later, they settled in Bellevue where Gabriel farmed with his dad and taught at Domremy School and finished his career at Bellevue School. His pride and joy was his wife, raising his three boys and spending time with his extended family. He was a devoted husband, a caring son, a thoughtful brother, an exemplary uncle, and a wonderful friend and teacher to all.
He leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory; his loving wife Marguerite of 47 years; three sons, Glenn (Sandra), Keith (Lana), and Kyle (Tanys); Seven granddaughters, Brittany (Jeremy Braun), Krystyn, Lexi, Brooke, Kaylyn, Keira, Chloe; two grandsons, Braeden and Devon, and one great-grandson Dominic Braun. Three brothers; Jean-Marc, Paulin, Normand (Debbie); Two sisters; Lucienne (Paul Forcier), Anita (Joe Croteau), and many nieces and nephews. Gabriel is predeceased by his parents Paul in 1990 and Julie in 2004; one sister Leonette (Louis Schmitt-deceased 2006) in 2007, one brother at birth, and his parents in-law Theodore and Marie-Louise Croteau.
Gabriel fought hard right until the end. The family would like to extend a very deep thank you to the staff at St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit and the Palliative Home Care Team.
