G Carman Langille 19382018

G. Carman Langille
1938-2018
Gerald Carman Langille, age 79, of Riverview, NB, passed away
peacefully at his home on April 3, 2018 with his family at his
side. Born in Middleton, Colchester County, NS, he was the
son of the late Hiram and Clarabelle Langille. He will be sadly missed
by his beloved wife Theresa of 52 years, son Jason (Jennifer) of
Cambridge, MA, USA, daughter Andrea of Westfield, IN, USA,
grandchildren Gabrielle, Colton and Connor, brother Conrad (Doris) of
Denmark, NS and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by three sisters;
Bernice (Karl) Barnhill, Anna (Bennie) Matheson, and Linda-Faye
(William) Haystead.
Carman retired from CNR/VIA Rail after 35 years of service
before joining Moncton Co-op Housing for 18 years. He spent the first
23 year of his career working in Halifax and living in Milford
Station, NS. He was a member of St John’s Masonic Lodge #2
G.R.N.S.-A.F.& A.M. in Halifax, a member of the Milford
Recreation Association, a Charter Member and Past Secretary of the
Milford and District Lions Club, and past Fire Chief of the Milford
Volunteer Fire Department.
After being transferred to Moncton more time was spent with
his young family. There were many memorable summers spent vacationing
throughout New Brunswick at Sandy Beach, Cap Pele, Kouchibouguac
National Park as well as Nova Scotia and Prince Edward
Island. Whenever the children were involved, whether it was
a school activity or program, sporting event, youth activity, or fund
raiser he was always there to lend a hand.
He played an instrumental role in the early development of
Ringette in our region which had just been introduced to the Town of
Riverview and was later expanded to Dieppe and Moncton.
While president of the Riverview Ringette Association he organized the
first Ringette Tournament in the area. That tournament
continues today, 34 years later, growing each year and has become a
major Maritime tournament.
Carman had a fantastic sense of humor, a positive outlook on
life and was always ready for a practical joke. He took great pride
and pleasure in maintaining his home and landscape. He truly
enjoyed listening to music, gardening and puttering around his work
shop.
Funeral Arrangements are in the care of Cobb’s
Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview, NB
E1B 0E4 (506) 869-2007. The family will receive relatives and friends
at Cobb’s Funeral Home on Saturday from 1:00 –
4:00pm. A funeral service will take place at St. John the Baptist
Anglican Church (Woolridge Dr., Riverview, NB) on Sunday, April 8,
