OBITUARY
G. Anne Dall
June 16, 1920 – December 17, 2018
Anne Dall passed peacefully on December 17, 2018 in Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Hospital, Halifax, where she resided for the past nineteen months. She was in her 99th year. Born in Leven, Fife, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Annie (Knox) Rattray and is the last member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her loving husband James Balfour Dall, and her two brothers James Cumming Rattray and John “Jack” Christie Knox Rattray. She is survived by her nephew, Alexander “Sandy” (Kathleen) Rattray and their daughters; niece, Janice (Gavin) Hardie and their daughters; and Sylvia (John) McHardy all of whom reside in Scotland. She will be sadly missed by her family by affection (her boys) James Baltus and Carl Baxter in Dartmouth. Anne served in the British Army for four and one half years upon leaving high school where she made wonderful friends and had many experiences. She and Jim moved from Scotland to Rhodesia (now South Africa) where they resided for several years. They emigrated to Canada in 1962 where they built more wonderful adventures together. Anne was a lady of style and skill, and an accomplished musician. She certainly knew her own mind and what she wanted. She was a gracious hostess who threw countless parties over her lifetime. Anne was a world traveler, both with Jim and after his passing. She had a wonderful sense of humour and loved a good laugh. Anne had a long and enchanted life well lived. A thousand thanks go out to the staff on 3 West at Camp Hill for the love, care and support you offered over her time with you. You are all very special people. Cremation has taken place under the direction of A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home. Interment will take place next summer in Scotland beside her beloved husband. There will be an informal reception on Saturday, December 22 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth. Memorial donations can be made to a charity of choice during this Christmas season.
